One of the most exciting aspects of programming our Jazz at Naz festival is finding artists in the early stages of their ascendancy. In just the past 18 months, Lakecia Benjamin has stepped into the limelight, and we are so pleased to bring her to The Soraya just days after the 2025 GRAMMY© Awards, where she has been nominated in two categories.
In this interview she discussed her recent success, but more so, the inspiration behind her album that catapulted her career – Phoenix. The album emerged during her recovery from a life-threatening car accident in 2021. While this chapter of her life may be traumatic, she discusses it openly here, providing inspiration to anyone suffering a setback.
Gratefully,
