Soraya Stories

Director Selects | April 17, 2020

By Thor Steingraber

We’re only hours away from The Soraya’s first Facebook Live concert featuring Artist-in-Residence violinist Niv Ashkenazi. This one-time-only broadcast will feature adapted excerpts from Ashkenazi’s newest album Niv Ashkenazi: Violins of Hopeperformed on one of the rescued violins from the Violins of Hope collection. Niv is the only musician in North America who possesses one of the violins from the collection, and it has been an honor working with him as this year’s Artist-in-Residence. In the face of what some call the greatest global crisis since World War II, Violins of Hope offers a timely reflection on history and an inspiring message of human perseverance. Join us for this concert from the comfort and safety of your own home as we celebrate this extraordinary program.
