Each night when I step onto the stage to introduce a performance, I am filled with the anticipation of sharing some of the world’s most accomplished artists with you. Every performance is the culmination of months, and sometimes years, of work. My only regret is that we are not yet able to run each performance for more nights and reach more people.
Before the 2023-24 season slips from our memories, we share this recap video. It represents about half of the performances, but fully captures the breadth and spirit of one of our most memorable seasons.
Many aspects of The Soraya’s season are not captured in this video, including the extensive work we do in our education programs. This season also saw a record number of CSUN students in attendance at performances, in no small part because of the new student ticket fund. We thank you for supporting that effort.
The final bow for the season belongs to The Soraya’s hard-working staff, more than 100 strong, who take great pride in providing a high-quality experience for artists and audiences alike that would rival any venue in the world.
In a few weeks, Director Selects will return with new artist interviews for the 2024-25 season. Until then, thanks for another “pitch perfect” season at The Soraya.
Gratefully,

The Director Selects series is a sequence of interviews shared by The Soraya on Fridays throughout the year. Each features an artist who will perform in the season or a behind-the-scenes video, and a note from Executive and Artistic Director Thor Steingraber to give patrons a look behind the curtain and better understand that collaboration between the artist and The Soraya that goes into each performance.
